A Birds-Eye View of WuXi Biologic
When WuXi Biologics, a global leader in biopharmaceuticals, decided to build their massive new state-of-the-art complex in Shanghai’s Fengxian Biomedical Industrial Park, they wanted buildings that were “out of the box.” Specifically, rather than “boxy” square corners, they wanted curved corners with vast radii all around the buildings’ perimeters, not only to create a modern, visually striking structure with a fluid flow of movement, but also to gain the functional and sustainable advantages of curved corners.
Aware of CENTRIA International’s reputation for quality and expertise in producing high-performing, extended-length, insulated curved metal panels, their architectural team reached out to discuss the distinctive design they had in mind. After extensive cooperation with the in-house CENTRIA International design team to achieve their vision, the project culminated in a series of buildings that are now known as a landmark in Fengxian.
Below are just a few of the unique features CENTRIA International produced for their buildings:
According to Alex Claypool, CENTRIA International’s Managing Director, “We love supporting projects for life sciences companies. Although we are in a vastly different industry from WuXi Biologics, it was quickly apparent during the development phase that we share the same values of innovation, striving for excellence, delivering results, and improving the lives of others through our work. It was wonderful to see our design and operations team members go above and beyond to help find solutions to challenges during the project, and to see the uniqueness of the stunning finished buildings that we hope will nurture innovation and inspire its occupants to create medicines that will transform and benefit humanity.”
